Proposed Sage Library System ByLaws Amendment

Sage Library System Bylaws

ARTICLE IV - USER COUNCIL
Section 4. Term
The term of representation on the User Council shall be two three years or until a successor is elected.

Representatives shall assume their duties at the first meeting of the administrative year and shall serve until the end of the administrative year of their second third year on the User Council.  Terms shall be staggered so that representatives within a given classification or grouping of classifications shall be elected in alternating staggering years.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Suggested classification groupings:

Public Libraries under 5,000 (3)

Public Libraries over 15,000 (3)

Circulating Schools (2) & Resource-sharing Partners/Special Libraries (1)

Public Libraries 5-15,000 (2) & Academic Libraries (1)

Suggestions on getting the 3 year stagger in place for each of the above classification groupings:

  • Public Libraries under 5,000
    • currently 2 positions with term ending 7/1/2019 -- extend term 1 year for either Cecili Longhorn or Dea Nowell (so term ends 7/1/2020 instead)
  • Public Libraries over 15,000
    • 2 outgoing positions this FY (term ending 7/1/2018) -- new terms for incoming representatives next FY only be one for 2 years (term ending 7/1/20) and other for 3 years (term ending 7/1/21)
  • Circulating Schools & Resource-sharing Partners/Special Libraries
    • currently 2 positions with term ending 7/1/2019 - one in circ. schools and one special lib. -- extend term 1 year for either Delia Wallis or Rich Wandschneider (so term ends 7/1/2020 instead)
  • Public Libraries 5-15,000 & Academic Libraries
    • 2 outgoing positions this FY (term ending 7/1/2018) - one in public libraries 5-15,000 and one in academic libraries -- new terms for incoming representatives next FY only be one for 2 years (term ending 7/1/20) and other for 3 years (term ending 7/1/21)
