Systems Update - January 28, 2017

Hello Libraries,

Here is your update for the week of January 28th, 2017.

Adding back in Library2Go/FantasticFiction links

In the Advanced Search page of the staff client, we have added back in the Library2Go and FantasticFiction links that were previously part of the bottom section of the page. We have heard from several sites that these were useful links to have in the staff client, so we've added them back in.

Re-instated 3 day Local Hold Block

For about a week after the upgrade, you may have noticed holds targeted to your library moving on faster than they should have. If you hadn't run the pull list in 2 days, you might have noticed a copy coming to fill a hold from a different library even though you had one on the shelf (because the other library ran their pull list more frequently).

Now, we have hardened the 3 day "pull or move-on" policy that does the following:

  • Patron from Library A places hold on title
  • Library A has that title on their shelf so it is added to their pull list
    • Have 3 days gone by?
      • Yes: Retarget the hold to look outside of the initially targeted library
      • No: Keep the title on the initial library's hold shelf until 3 days have passed

We will be checking in to ensure this is working correctly. Please let us know if you notice anomolies as well, that will be helpful. The behavior is supposed to allow a library 3 days to run their pull list and capture local  items before it moves on to other libraries [in an effort to decrease transit times/costs from other Sage libraries].
